Haha, and I here I come from the opposite end of the spectrum: Claw Head was always my favorite alien. I love that thick, grubby body with the different color and texture on the back, and the huge toothy mouth with eyeballs tucked inside was easily my favorite design aspect from all the monsters. The mixture of human and invertebrate traits always made him seem more alien and unsettling to me than the other invaders. The extendable dual head spikes are also really iconic and I tend to think of his design any time I see a monster with a pair of close-set horns or stingers. The bite-happy second mouth he lets loose is admittedly nothing new but I always thought it had character and was a fun little cinema nod. Overall he just struck me as the ugliest, gnarliest thing in Farmady's armada and I adore how weird he is. Had some pretty sweet color morphs, too (but then again so did all of them!).
Anyway you did a great job here, the heavy shadows on the back do a wonderful job of bringing out all the wrinkly skin textures and the glowy veins you added really pop. Bonus points for just drawing him at all, KOTM fan art is hard to come by, especially for the alien invaders.
Claw Head was never a big favorite of mine, as the monster never looked all that menacing, or even functional to begin with. In addition to that, the whole design reeked of the amateurishly monster design that you'd expect from someone who is either not a monster fan themselves, or flippantly doesn't get monsters in general. You know, the sort of ass who makes something like 'Nazi T-Rex', 'Demonic Salmon' or 'Fire-Breathing Jesus' not because those concepts sound kind of neat (barely), but because said creator didn't want to put any real imaginative effort into his / her's monster design. And besides, Fire-Breathing Jesus was already done, and to far better effect in "Gatchaman", so please Internet, stop trying. With all that said, I love your rendition of an otherwise least favorite character, where you somehow managed to make Claw Head look menacing, despite his design. The darker colors and nifty 'neon purple' back veins also help in the aforementioned regard. Again, your colored King of the Monsters pieces are awesome, and so looking forward to more.
