Ghouls are taken from Arabian mythology, and originally was a shapeshifting demon who raided cemeteries and burial grounds to feast upon corpses. In modern fiction they've become a sort of stronger, super-zombie, usually with some modicum of superhuman strength and free will.

This will go up on Freaks, mutants, and monsters tomorrow.

Ah Ghoul, I remember being an enemy in Persona 1 and now an summonable ally in Persona 4. It surprised me their origins were from Arabian myth though.

Arabian? Now thats interesting. I would have never figured that to be the case. I think I like the Arabian idea better as there are fewer creatures belonging to that set of mythology and the idea of demon coming in to eat corpses is a good story waiting to happen instead of the usual "BRAAAAIINS" fair we're used to.

Designwise, the creepy skin texture makes a return and I'm digging it =).

It's not that I don't like society, It's that I've been forced to live out side of it due to the over whelming force of: conservatives, conformists, liberals, republicans, democrats, enviromentalists, terrorists, right wingers, religous zealots, media...

Awesome! Amazing work! I just love the dark tone, the pose, and everything else about it! The background really sets the mood that this guy is not to be messed with. He really looks like he'd be something that'd watch you for days as you die. You glance it as it sits upon the tree limb outside your window, you do a double take and its gone. You walk down the hallway, there it is at the end of the hall, and before your brain can fully process what has just happened, it is gone.... You leave your home for the market and you see a sinister face in the masses, the crowd continues to move and its gone. On your death bed it is the last visitor when the room is empty. And finally, as they lower you into the grave... An univited guest watches from afar. The service ends and a cold wind blows across the graveyard, leaves fly in the breeze and twigs scratch against lonely tombstones. The Ghoul digs out your coffin from the dead ground and proceeds to break open your casket's door. Wood splinters as the creature breaks open the coffin. The beast has found it's prize.... Despite being dead for hours you feel every bite, scratch, and laceration. It is then you realize, that its not just eating your body.... Its eating your soul...

Hmm, that kinda sounds like a good idea for a book.

I like how you can turn something like this into a full story at the drop of a hat!

Oh why thank you! I read the description and saw the picture and that just came to mind. I just thought it would be creepy to see that following you around in your last few days alive.

The body detail on this guy is great; a step above the typical zombie art...even knowing its a ghoul.
