Kong Chronicles - V. Rex by hawanja Kong Chronicles - V. Rex by hawanja
Kong Chronicles - Vastatosaurus rex

2008 Ink, Photoshop

As the heavier, bulkier decendent of Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Vastatosaurus rex is at the top of the Skull Island food chain. The creature's size, animal cunning, and formidable jaws allows the adult of the species to go toe to toe with any other large predator on the island, including challenging the Kongs for dominance of the highlands.

After Carl Denham's fiasco at the Empire State building, scientists from many nations rushed to Skull Island to document the bizarre species which resided there. Many specimens were taken (sometimes at the cost of human life.) During the second world war an expedition of Nazi scientists capture several V. Rexes to be used in Project: Donnerdrache.

Unfortunately for the Germans, Vastatosaurus rex is not a species that takes to captivity well. By the time Kong is sent on his rescue mission the three V. Rexes in captivity were responsible for several dozen German casualties.

It's going to be a while. If you want to see what I'm doing, this is the guy who's doing the pencils for the work I'm coloring:

As you can see, his pencil work is off the freakin' hook, incredibly detailed, so I need to devote a lot of time to each page there.

1) Look, sorry to disappoint you, but I have a lot of stuff going on. I don't want to sound rude, but you like asked me to draw like 25 things all at once. How about like, one or two? I mean come on man, look at that list you put down. That's like a whole zoo.

2) I don't know. I'm working on this comic book thing now, I don't know when it will be done. Sorry.

Well you know, I just got another colorist gig, so it's going to be a week or so until I can even devote my full time to the Kong Chronicles thing at all. I got one pic going up tonight but not much else until next week really.

So, maybe I could do a "Skull Island Wildlife" kind of thing, but afterwards.

thanks

You want me to draw nineteen different pictures, right away. Any particular reason why?

And please, use the "reply" button, as in the button that says reply, in the lower left of this comment. It keeps the conversation in one neat little thread.

well skull island is very famous for it's dinosaurs and a prehistoric ecosytem with mega dinos, monster fish and insects, and flying rodents would be perfect for pterosaurs, prehistoric mammals and birds and feral animals, wouldn't u think so, after skull island needs brontosaurus and venatosaurus what not, and im sure u'd make great pictures of these, so do it for skull island, do it for denham, do it for kong him self, do it the hundreds, perhaps even thousands of people on deviantart, whom will look and rate this, so what do u say pal

Alright, well maybe after the full Kong Chronicles thing is done I can do a few of those. It's going to be some time before I can get to any of them though.

Why don't you try drawing some of these things?

And please, use the "reply" button under this comment instead of making a whole new one.

Yeah, I like the idea of dinosaurs eating the Nazis rather than being ridden by them.

(bonus points if you know where that's from)

Whooo!! Like how you included a kind of reference to Mr jacksons hoax :D

Anyway. V-rex rocks. They are, in a direct quote from my mate when watching king kong "built like a brick shithouse"

Fantastic addition. Any chance of seeing any Nazi creatures?
